When I first moved to Tucson, the desert was entirely new to me. It seemed utterly alien in many ways. I recall describing it as hostile and vampiric at first, but over time, came to appreciate how subtle it’s beauty was. I realized how fleeting and transitional this seemingly solemn and timeless environment could be. This notion seemed paradoxical to me and it is these contrast that I celebrate and try to capture with my art. I have found a continuing beauty in the decay of the desert, and through my reinterpretations of form and purpose, I hope to give it a chance to live again.
